Disney University Creator Doug Lipp Will Kick Off 2019 Conference in Anaheim

In what seems like a “no brainer,” Doug Lipp, one of the creators of Disney University, has been secured as the kick-off speaker for the Association’s 2019 annual conference at the Disneyland Hotel.

“I’m excited about our entire lineup of speakers—I might be most excited about Doug Lipp, our Wednesday keynote,” said Annual Conference Chair Chris Romer. “Like Walt Disney, Doug believes that laughter is no enemy of learning and will infuse his singular style of fun and humor into his presentation, setting the tone for a great three days of connections and education.”

Doug Lipp

Lipp will be sharing his decades of experiences, which include implementing the “Disney Way” at Tokyo Disneyland and leading the training team at Disney University at the corporate headquarters of The Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney Studios.

“I learned a valuable lesson while at Disney and I like to pass it along to my audience in every program I lead,” said Lipp. “Unless we continually strive to improve our products, service and leadership style, we automatically concede defeat to the competition: no one is ever too good to stop improving.”

Lipp, who has authored eight books, outlines 13 timeless Disney lessons in his book, Disney U: How Disney University Develops the World’s Most Engaged, Loyal, and Customer-Centric Employees.

These lessons will be the focus of his talk at the 2019 annual conference.

Lessons

One of these 13 lessons is “Keep Plussing the Show: No Room for Excuses.”

Related to this, Lipp will share thoughts from Van France, who was a provocative truth teller and Disney University founder, that refer to constraints which hamstring far too many organizations, including chambers of commerce. Some examples of these thoughts are:

• “Budgets and headcount will always be tight, but creativity is always free.”

• “The budget has become the scapegoat for every possible negative action and rejection of any suggestion for improving things.”
