Description: Executive Director, Cupertino Chamber of Commerce

Starting Salary: negotiable commensurate with experience.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of five years of related work experience.
  • Available for flexible work hours, including some nights and weekends.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills necessary for building relationships, policy advocacy and public speaking.
  • Analytical ability to assess situations, identify key issues and develop appropriate strategies and recommendations.
  • Organizational skills to initiate, manage and implement external community and internal Chamber festivals and events.
  • Leadership skills to manage operations and staff, foster excellence and hold self and others accountable for outcomes.
  • Strong verbal, written, editing and production skills in multiple media
  • Valid driver license, driving record clean of major infractions and an insured personal car available for business use.

Strategic Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Board, membership and the community to meet our member’s current and future needs.
  • Grow Chamber membership and increase member retention, member benefits, and overall member satisfaction.
  • Ensure that the Chamber’s financial condition remains good through periodic reporting, monthly reviews, and appropriate financial controls.
  • Represent the Chamber with our members, prospective members, the City, and the community-at-large.

Tactical Responsibilities: Under the oversight of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the implementation of Board policy and day-to-day management and operation of the Chamber. bit.ly/CupertinoChamberExec

HOLLYWOOD (CA) CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Position: Head of Government Affairs
Salary: $79,500-$148,000

Description: A key member of the HCC staff, advising the HCC’s President/CEO and serving as a resource for the HCC’s Board of Directors on key legislative and political issues at the local, state and federal level affecting the Hollywood business community.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Lead research and analysis of legislation, regulations, and public policy issues
  • Identify advocacy opportunities for the HCC and devise relevant action plans
  • Work with HCC Board committee chairs and members to develop and carry out programs and HCC initiatives
  • Report timely on emerging policy issues to the HCC’s President/CEO, Board, and members
  • Represent the HCC and its members on policy issues in external settings, including participation in meetings with policymakers/public officials
  • Monitor political developments that affect the HCC and Hollywood community

Skills and qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years experience in policy and advocacy work preferred in government, nonprofit or private sector setting
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct public policy analysis and design/implement strategies for advocacy
  • Knowledge of political structures and dynamics among various government units relevant to the Los Angeles/Hollywood area
  • Experience working with a diverse group of stakeholders
  • Ability to speak effectively in public and to represent HCC viewpoints
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with close attention to detail
  • Ability to distill complex ideas for a general audience and to appreciate a variety of perspectives from diverse audiences
  • Proven experience building strong internal and external relationships
  • Works well under time constraints
  • Adaptable to evolving environments
  • An effective problem solver with a strong work ethic
  • Strong leadership skills; experience handling multiple tasks and project management experience

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience required. An advanced degree is a plus.

Requirements: This position is responsible for leadership and administration of the Salinas Valley Chamber of Commerce. The CEO works in partnership with the Chamber’s Board of Directors and Executive Committee under the Chamber’s policy guidelines to provide planning, membership and membership development, administration, communications and public relations, financial management and fundraising to lead the organization toward fulfilling its mission and strategic plan. It is important that our leader have superior relationship-building competencies.
