Description: The Executive Director is accountable for providing executive leadership, strategic direction and vision for the development and fulfillment of the Chamber’s mission and Bylaws, and the Education Foundation; the Chamber’s funding, members, employees, daily operation of the Chamber office, programs, events, monthly newsletter, and social media.
KEY PRIORITIES AND AREAS OF FOCUS:
Economic Development: Grow the financial strength of the Chamber as measured by membership and revenues.
Advocacy: Give voice to our members interests on issues affecting their business.
Communicate/Connect: Develop effective communications and marketing efforts with membership, city leadership, elected officials, and the community
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Senior level management in a Chamber or closely related organization.
- Thorough knowledge of finance, economics, planning, management.
- Superior written, oral communication and social media skills, as well as public speaking ability.
- Superior technology experience including, but not limited to: Microsoft Suite of Products, Constant Contact, Quickbooks, PowerPoint, Excel, Scheduling Video Conferences, Content creation in the form of a monthly newsletter and the Chamber’s social media accounts.
- Develop and implement new programs/incentives for sustained revenue growth.
- Thorough understanding of the political environment of chambers, and business community.
- Responsible for management of Chamber staff and daily operations of the office.
- Valid California Driver’s License required.

Description: The Carmel Chamber of Commerce is searching for a charismatic and confident leader to serve as our Executive Director. We’re seeking someone with vision, creativity and passion to elevate and collaborate with our business community, to nurture positive relationships with local government, to develop relevant programs for our members and to collaborate with staff to create a financially successful and effective leadership organization. We’re looking for someone with 5 years of comparable management experience, direct experience in budgeting, growing revenue, and effective management of staff and vendors. Strong administrative skills such as Word, Excel, Quickbooks, PowerPoint, InDesign, Adobe Creative Suite, Quickbooks and the ability to create content for social media are necessary. Experience and confidence in public speaking and interaction with various departments of local government is also expected. Degrees, graduate programs or other specialty educational accomplishments (including W.A.C.E. certifications) are always preferred and Chamber or other membership organization experience is also a plus.
