Requirements: The Sitka Chamber and Visit Sitka office is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter that can take a job and run with it from idea to completion. We are a small and very busy collaborative office with many programs constantly in progress. We are looking for an up-beat, honest team member who is as comfortable working alone as they are on a big team project. We are a small nonprofit organization located in Sitka, Alaska on the west coast of Baranof Island facing the Pacific Ocean. Our community of about 8,500 human residents shares the area with eagles, bears, all five species of salmon, whales, sea lions, sea otters and so many more species of animals. Located amid the Tongass National Forest, Sitka is only accessible by air and water – no roads reach us, but our main road in town stretches 14 miles from end to end. Sitka is a place of great natural beauty, a warm welcoming community, and instant access to nature steps from your front door. Our historic downtown offers locally owned shops and businesses that support Sitka’s artists, makers and eateries. Sitka’s commercial airlines offer daily flights to Seattle, Juneau and Anchorage, making Sitka easily accessible for visitors and for you to explore.

Basic Function
The Member & Convention Relations Specialist recruits and retains Chamber and Visit Sitka members; supports the sales & planning efforts for all special projects, while contributing to the development and delivery of meeting/convention services.

NORTH CLACKAMAS (OR) CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Salary: $65,000-$90,000

Requirements: The CEO is responsible for leadership and strategic development of the Chamber, its membership, and programs. Oversees operational, financial, and visioning aspects of the Chamber. Is a key representative and advocate for business owners and employers. Is actively involved in community wide business and economic issues as well as effective advocating for business at local, state, and regional levels of government. Is involved interaction with companies of all sizes, education leaders, community organizations, foundations, and government officials on economic and community development issues. Experience working with a membership-based organization is highly desirable. Experience in developing and executing annual work plans. Successful experience across private, public, and governmental sectors. Demonstrates ability to manage financial affairs of an organization and communicate effectively with the Board of Directors. Ability to effectively articulate goals, objectives, and policy positions of the Chamber to the media and community. Experience with public relations, media relations, and public speaking. Ability to hire, develop and lead a team.Excellent listener, outstanding written and oral communication skills, and effective presentation skills to multiple audiences. Strategic visionary thinker. Ability to identify challenges, threats, and opportunities that exist in the environment; ability to think differently about how the business environment operates and look for new ways to solve problems. Relationship builder. Promotes diversity and inclusion. Effective networker.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in marketing, business, finance, or related fields of study. Minimum of five years business experience with senior management interaction. A combination of nonprofit and for profit preferred but no required. Successful completion of background check.

We are seeking an ambitious, results driven sales professional to promote the positive aspects of Chamber membership and secure new member, sponsorship and advertising revenue while also enhancing relations with current members and investors. The successful candidate must be a willing and highly motivated prospector who possess excellent sales and communication skills. Factors for success in this key external-facing role include self-motivation, the ability to build relationships, time management, and drive to achieve established selling goals.

Principal Accountabilities:
Membership, Sponsorship and Advertising Sales
Assures the goals set for new member, sponsorship and advertising revenue are met or exceeded via individual sales efforts targeted to those who may benefit from Chamber membership.

  • Utilizes the Chamber’s standardized recruiting and selling processes to meet or exceed revenue goals.
  • Identify prospective businesses and organizations throughout Southwest Riverside for use as sales leads.
  • Connect with prospective members and investors through initial telephone and personal contact to establish positive relationships with executive leaders.
  • Assess prospective member needs and motivations and make connections to the Chamber programs and resources that correlate to their organizational objectives.
  • Responsible for maintaining a daily sales activity average of 20 telephone call attempts per day.
  • The member relations manager may be called upon, and would definitely find it advantageous, to attend APEC events and functions for recruitment purposes.
