Description: This position is responsible for generating private revenues via the continued development and implementation of a healthy and ever-expanding membership program, solicitation of program underwriting and event sponsorship opportunities, and publication/website ad sales. Responsible for implementing a high-touch stewardship program to ensure retention and renewals. Works in partnership with the President/CEO, fellow staff members, the Board of Directors, volunteers, and a Membership Committee, and is highly engaged with community engagement activities.

Duties include:

  • Develop and implement an ambitious membership recruitment and retention plan to increase the  number of member businesses and to retain and upgrade existing members.
  • Create collaborative processes that engage the President/CEO, fellow staff members, the Board of Directors, and the Board’s Membership Committee.
  • Create sales and sponsorship related content for the Chamber’s websites and e-Newsletters, social media engagement, and print collateral.
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of Chamber and sponsorship events.
  • Ensure membership collateral and communications adhere to brand standards.
  • Maintain the member data base to ensure a sustainable membership program and proper dues and sponsor billings and collections.
  • Provide input for and implement budgets and work programs.
  • Develop and implement revenue growth strategies and solicit business sponsorships, program underwriting and ad sales opportunities for annual programs, events, and publications.
  • Represent the Chamber on nonprofit community organization volunteer committees.
  • Participate in Chamber industry related conferences and events for professional development.

  • Has the ability to develop strong relationships with other associations, industry, government, media, public service groups
  • Has direct experience working with boards and/or multiple stakeholder groups and is able to inspire and accomplish work through a volunteer leadership organization
  • Possesses the ability to attract and motivate large groups of volunteers
  • Is the main point of contact with established leaders within the community (business and otherwise)
  • Is willing to work within a team structure to promote and grow the organization
  • Understands and is involved in the political process, has knowledge of local government operations and working knowledge of economic development and can effectively advocate for businesses at local, state and regional government levels
  • Can successfully solicit, fundraise and secure sponsorships and membership dollars from both private and public sector
  • Has direct experience in revenue growth, budgeting & financial management, bookkeeping, staff development, oversight & management. Strong MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills, ChamberMaster, Square, Quickbooks, Adobe Creative Suite, Constant Contact & Social media experience desired.

Description: The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce has an open position for a Business Development Director. We are looking for a positive and confident individual with both the ability and desire to oversee the implementation of the Chamber’s business sales objectives and generate investment in the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce. This individual must have the skills to work both as part of a team and independently. Initial training will be provided. Hours worked will be Monday – Friday from 8am – 5pm with additional hours as needed. Compensation is an hourly rate of pay plus commissions.

Generous commission structure includes commissions on new members, membership upgrades for existing members, print/web advertising sales, event sponsorship sales and ribbon cutting packages. We also pay annual renewal commissions on your sales and overrides on membership sales made by sales staff. Bonus opportunities for exceeding budgeted goals.

Duties Include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Membership Development, advertising sales for Chamber’s quarterly magazine, annual map, website and enewsletter.
  • Oversite of Chamber’s Membership Department and advertising sales operation to ensure monthly sales goals are met
  • Maintain current client relationships and establish new relationships with potential members and advertisers
  • Close interaction with Chamber’s Events, Communications and Workforce Development departments to identify opportunities to expand our member benefits and bring added value to our business community
  • Research the latest trends in the Chamber industry and create new opportunities and methods to expand Chamber’s membership/client base.
  • Develop a strong understanding of Chambers goals, products, and services to effectively communicate with the business community
  • New business outreach through calls, emails, in person meetings and attendance at networking events
  • Assist with sponsor acquisitions for major Chamber events

Description: The new President & CEO will be responsible for the overall operation of the Chamber and will work in partnership with the Board to set strategic direction, create synergistic opportunities, and design and implement annual business plans.   The new President & CEO will deliver on the intent of the Chamber’s updated vision.

Specific areas of accountability include member relations, budgeting and financial reporting, strategic planning, operations and administration, team leadership, program development and management, revenue and business development, Board relations, advocacy, partnership development, alignment, and management, community engagement, media and public relations, marketing and communications, and government relations. In addition, the President & CEO serves as a key spokesperson for the Chamber, delivering presentations to a wide array of community based organizations and stakeholder groups.
