Description: The ideal candidate has a passion for leadership and our greater Lake Tahoe South Shore area community and can expand and grow Tahoe Chamber’s membership and partnerships. Our CEO must serve as a resource and model for good business practices and drive the Tahoe Chamber mission and vision.

Key skills required include:

  • Manage daily Chamber business and operations
  • Experience building budgets and controlling finances
  • Knowledge of grant applications and managing grant funds
  • Responsible for all expenditures with approved budget allocation
  • Negotiate and manage outside contracts and services
  • Direct, develop, and motivate a team of 3 to 5 staff, including hiring, discharging, documenting, evaluating and supervising all employment activities
  • Responsible for Board development and coordinating annual Board elections
  • Act a public spokesperson for the Board’s policies and decisions
  • Conduct official correspondence and preserve documents, communications, and archives to maintain a complete and accurate record of all proceedings of the Chamber
  • Prepare notices, agendas and other materials for meetings of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors
  • Other duties and responsibilities as identified in the Chamber bylaws
  • Build and maintain relationships and understand the needs of local businesses and all Chamber members
  • Build and maintain relationships with local and regional governments and agencies with jurisdiction in our Chamber sphere of influence and advocate in support of business.
  • Manage and grow high level Chamber investor programs
  • Building membership to drive increased Chamber member revenues

5-Year minimum management experience

3-Year minimum experience serving on or working with a Board of Directors

Chamber experience preferred

Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Description: The President/CEO reports to the TVCC Board of Directors and is responsible for the following:

The President/CEO will provide high-profile leadership, vision, guidance and strategic direction for the programs and personnel of the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce. The President/CEO will facilitate and lead staff and board efforts to achieve the mission and goals of the Chamber as approved by the Board of Directors. The President/CEO will demonstrate knowledge and expertise on economic development principles, the regional economic and political environment, marketing and branding concepts, membership sales, and the opportunities and challenges leading to the growth and prosperity of large and small employers in the region. The President/CEO will demonstrate openness to ideas from a variety of sources and focus on achieving “best in class” outcomes. The successful candidate for this position must be a leader and a passionate advocate for propelling the Chamber to achieve standards of excellence. He/she will be a highly collaborative leader with the ability to successfully manage current programs and strategic initiatives for the chamber, and form mutually beneficial partnerships with city leaders, businesses and community organizations within the region. The President/CEO will attend monthly Membership Brief and Special event committee meetings. The successful candidate will oversee the Southwest California Manufacturing bi-monthly meetings. They will Organize the meeting location, invite new guests, and work closely with the SCMC Chairman on future speakers and meeting locations. The President/CEO will attend all groundbreaking events and when possible ribbon-cutting events. The president/CEO assists with the implementation of the annual budget for the Chamber and coordinates expenditures consistent with the budget amongst other duties. General Description: The Tempe Chamber President and CEO coordinates and implements the many activities of the Tempe Chamber of Commerce, working under board policy guidelines of the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He or she coordinates/delegates the activities of many councils, committees and task forces and supervises the work of the staff of these various entities in the pursuit of the Chamber’s objectives. As the chief staff officer, he or she may be called upon to represent the Chamber Board of Directors and Officers in contact with the membership, with outside individuals, public agencies and officials, various organizations, and groups, and with the public, all requiring judgment and tact to foster good community/chamber relations. The President and CEO reports to the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Assuring that a membership recruitment and retention plan is in place.
  • Maintains current statistics and familiarity of the economy of the area, both inside and outside the Chamber membership.
  • Cultivates good relationships with city, county, state and federal governments and their elected officials and staff.
  • Maintains a high level of communication among the Tempe Chamber officers, directors, staff, committees, and members as well as between the Tempe Chamber and the public.
  • Coordinates the activities of the Tempe Chamber committees, with the Board of Directors and Executive Committee, and provides necessary personnel and staff assistance.
  • Oversees all staff activities of the Tempe Chamber including the hiring and termination of employees.
  • Prepares and implements an annual budget for the Tempe Chamber and coordinates expenditures consistent with the budget.

Our client, United Way California Capital Region (UWCCR), is seeking a dynamic new President and Chief Executive Officer. This individual will replace Stephanie McLemore Bray, who left UWCCR after 7 very productive years to join Seattle FoundFoundation as its Chief Engagement Officer. At the end of 2020, UWCCR received a “game changer” donation of $10M from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott. The new President/CEO is coming into a well-resourced organization, one that is seeking new leadership to leverage this incredible gift.

The President and CEO reports to a 25-member BOD, comprised of regional community members and business leaders. The position oversees 39 staff members, an operating budget of approx. $7M, assets of $19M, and is projected to raise $9M in the current budget cycle. In 2018-19, UWCCR generated nearly $13M in resources for the communities it serves. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader who will work with other community stakeholders to grow UWCCR’s presence as the leading nonprofit in the region.

Compensation and Interview Process:

The competitive compensation package includes a salary of $200,000 plus a results-based bonus of up to 10%, based on meeting the above noted expectations. The position is also eligible for employer-paid health insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan.
