Are You One of the Next Members of Our Emerging Leaders Council?

Colin Diaz

Who’s next?

That’s a question that many chambers, businesses and even governments are facing.

One of the ways that W.A.C.E. is trying to address the issue of future leadership is with our Emerging Leaders Council.

“Identifying the chamber industry’s emerging chamber leaders and engaging them in W.A.C.E. has been a definite win-win for everyone—the members selected, the chamber industry and W.A.C.E., said Dave Kilby, W.A.C.E. president/CEO. “Members named to the Council receive important recognition and the we definitely benefit from their input and counsel.”

The Council

The Emerging Leaders Council consists of up to 24 association members. Chamber chief executives and staff professionals who are under the age of 40 and plan to make chamber management their career are eligible to apply.

Membership on the Council is limited to one person per chamber.

The Council has been instrumental in determining content for the association’s annual conference and webinars, and has been involved in judging and presenting many of the association’s communication awards.

The Council also serves in an advisory capacity to the W.A.C.E. Board and president. Members are invited to attend the association’s May and October Board meetings as nonvoting participants.

Important Dates

The application for a two-year term on the Emerging Leaders Council is now available. The deadline to apply is November 9, 2020.

Those named to the Council will be announced during the 2021 W.A.C.E. Conference scheduled for February 3–5 at the Sacramento Hyatt.
